In this exercise you will see a new time signature. The 6 states that there are 6 beats in the bar and the 8 means that the eighth note will get the beat.
The rhythms in this time signature will be counted differently than time signatures where the quarter note will get the beat. For example, the dotted quarter note can be divided into 3 eighth notes. Notice how the eighths are grouped in 2 groups of three in each bar.
