Minor 3rd Descending

The minor 3rd is an interval that spans 3 notes on the musical staff.  It consists of 3 semitones (half steps).  It can be practiced using the following methods.  

Moveable Do:                       

Do - La  or  So - Mi

Song References:               

Frosty the Snowman, American National Anthem (first 2 pitches), Hey Jude (Beatles)

Scale Degree Numbers:   

8 - 6  or 5 - 3

 

Major 3rd Descending

The major 3rd is an interval that spans 3 notes on the musical staff.  It consists of 4 semitones (half steps).  It can be practiced using the following methods.  

Moveable Do:                       

Mi - Do

Song References:               

Summertime (from Porgy and Bess), Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Mary Had a Little Lamb (1st and 3rd pitches)

Scale Degree Numbers:   

3 - 1  

 

Sing the descending intervals along with the recording using a system of your choice. Each interval will be played twice.
