Rhythm

To practice rhythm, look over the exercise. Start by tapping 1 bar of a steady beat.  This exercise will have 6 beats per bar and the eighth note will get the beat.

While tapping this steady beat, clap, tap or speak the rhythm of the exercise.

Sight Singing

To begin, look over the exercise.  Then play the recording.  There will be a broken chord playing the La, Do Mi , and top La pitches followed by the starting note.

Sing along with the recording using the solfege words provided.

Each solfege syllable represents a pitch.

*NOTE - This exercise is in the key of D minor.  We know this because there is one flat in the key signature like its relative major, F major.  You will see that it ends on D (La) and there is a raised So (called Si). This signifies the minor key.  The Si will now be a semitone step to La as in the harmonic minor scale.
