Singing Intervals
Intervals are the musical space between two pitches. Some basic intervals are pictured below. Notice we count the lines and spaces including the top and bottom note to determine the name of the interval.
Many methods can be used to learn to sing intervals. Some basic intervals are pictured below. The chart below provides the solfege syllables as well as songs that have proven to work for singing ascending and descending intervals. The songs all have the interval in their opening pitches. If you don't know them, this is a great chance to add them to your playlist! Eventually, with enough practice, these devices won't be necessary and you will be able to sing most intervals on command.
